What better way to celebrate summer than sunflowers?  ‘Tournesol’ in French, ‘girasole’ in Italian, both mean ‘turn to the sun.’ Vincent Van Gogh painted many images of beautiful sunflowers.

Born  on March 30, 1853, Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter. He died at the age of thirty-seven on  July 29, 1890

While wildly famous today, he only sold one painting during his lifetime.  In 1888, he moved moved to the south of France to follow the sun and paint these iconic images.
